September 14, 2008

Another super busy week: we had three soccer practices and four games; four dance hours (this was parent's week); and four piano lessons.

Doug has been blessed with several new jobs this week and we hope they keep coming. It has been pretty quiet since mid-July.

My MusiKids class went well and there are 19 girls in it at present. Almost all of them are new students for me and all of them are paying customers. I used to trade services a lot with my neighborhood families. I'm excited and thankful. I had my "belt" debut on Saturday. I sang at a fundraiser for a composer friend of mine. Belting is the really bright Broadway sound. It went all right. I also started teaching in my private studio this week. My ward choir is sounding great! We sing a big arrangement of All Creatures of our God and King in church next week. It has been a fun challenge.

Jared scored his first goal ever in soccer. Elena had her RAD kids graduation. I cried through the whole things. RAD kids is a self defense class they teach in many venues but we are blessed to have it in our school. During their graduation simulation they asked me to be the bad person trying to trick the kids to come with me even though I didn't have the "password." That was yucky enough. But what made me cry EVERY time was when these little kids took on the big cop in the red Michelin Man outfit. He would grab them and they had to try and get away. Their RAD coach was there telling them what to do (shin kicks, groin kicks, elbows, poking his eyes, etc) but the kids were truly frightened. I could hardly contain myself. I wanted to save them all. I had tears streaming down my face.

Miriam started dance this week. She is so excited to be back and is a lovely dancer. Mary was doing handstands for the crowd before her soccer game began. But once it starts, her head is in the game. She always knows where the ball is. She is one of the fastest players on her team. \

Arlene had two play dates and is driving me mad. She wants to play with a friend all the time. Enoch started to watch the kids go off to school this week. He says "bye, bye, love ya, be good" while waving until they are out of sight. He also said words I have been waiting a long time to hear in regards to getting dressed "I can do it myself!" I have had to painstakingly teach him each element of getting dressed. This week he turned the corner onto independance street.

Family Funny: Mary was singing the 7th Article of Faith song. For her it goes "We believe in the gift of tongues, prophecy, revolution, visions, healing, interpretation of tongues and so forth."

Bye bye, Love Ya, Be Good!
